It's Friday. Are you ready to celebrate? Let's give a big shout-out to our host, Lexa Cain, who would swim through a tsunami to get internet service, and her co-hosts, L.G. Keltner and Tonya Drecker!
Here we go!

1. On Thursday, my older daughter auditioned for her middle school play. She had separate song and dance try-outs for Mary Poppins. I've never seen Mary Poppins, but I now have the song "Anything Can Happen" stuck in my head on permanent replay. It's insidious. Really. But I wish my girl all the luck and I'm super impressed with all the hard work she put into this audition. Now, please dear Lord, get this tune out of my head. Gahhh!!!
The fabulous Mr. Mistoffelees
2. We're a little cat crazy here. When a beautiful stray started coming around when we moved in, we first built him an outdoor house and eventually got him to come inside. Now Mr. M sleeps on my chest. (Can't breathe...)

This summer, another beautiful stray started showing up and so we did what any responsible pet owner would--we built another house. I spied the new kitty exiting it this week. So yeah. The word is out. We're a cat-HAirbnb! Possums and raccoons allowed. Dinner served around the clock. Severe finger shaking if found fighting.

3. This was my last full week of blissful writing days. The kidlets will have most of next week off for Thanksgiving, and the week after that there are days off for parent-teacher conferences. Despite the interruptions in my work schedule, I'm celebrating the fact I don't have to travel for this particular holiday. No airport lines until Christmas!

And now for Stephanie Faris's newest Piper Morgan book!
Piper Morgan To The Rescue
Blurb:
Piper helps some four-legged friends find the perfect home in the third book of
the brand-new Piper Morgan series.
Piper is super excited to help out at Bark Street, a local animal shelter in town. Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by adorable puppies and dogs all day? And when Piper sees Taffy, the cutest dog she has ever seen, Piper is determined to find a way to bring Taffy home. But it won’t be easy—especially when she finds out someone else wants to make Taffy a part of their family, too!

Stephanie Faris knew she wanted to be an author
from a very young age. In fact, her mother often told her to stop reading so
much and go outside and play with the other kids. After graduating from Middle
Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism,
she somehow found herself working in information technology. But she never stopped
writing.
Stephanie is the Simon & Schuster author of 30 Days of No Gossip and 25 Roses, as well as the upcoming Piper Morgan series. When she isn’t crafting fiction, she writes for a variety of online websites on the topics of business, technology, and her favorite subject of all—fashion. She lives in Nashville with her husband, a sales executive.

Have you seen Mary Poppins? Love cats? Have big plans for Thanksgiving?
Congratulations, Stephanie!
ReplyDeleteYou've never seen Mary Poppins? You'll see the play soon enough.
You're going to have a whole cat condo before long...
Have a great Thanksgiving!
Thank you, Alex! She's going to love Mary Poppins! We did My Fair Lady in high school and our drama teacher made us watch the movie. The songs STILL get stuck in my head sometimes, and it's been a LOT of years.
DeleteThank you for hosting me today, Tamara! I just noticed your commentary under "Post a Comment" here. It made me laugh out loud!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your daughter on the audition, Tamara. I hope she gets the part. But she deserves credit for working so hard on it. Happy Thanksgiving and happy you don't have to travel this year.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Congrats to Stephanie.
ReplyDeleteFunny that your daughter's middle school is doing Mary Poppins. One of the local middle schools just did that play (are going to do that play). Small world.
Thank you, Liz!
DeleteI've only ever seen the Disney movie version of Mary Poppins, so I had never heard of "Anything Can Happen" just today. I can see how it would get stuck in your head. May your daughter receive good news soon!
ReplyDeleteThe cats are gorgeous!
And congrats to Stephanie!
Thanks, M.J.!
DeleteI loved doing plays in Middle School and HS. Learning all the lines was tough, but you get such a great payoff at the end when you're in front of an audience. I wish all that pleasure for your daughter! The cat situation is pretty funny (at least the way you put it), and I think Mr. M is definitely king of all cats! Congrats to Stephanie on her new book & have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lexa!
DeleteCongrats to Stephanie! I've never seen anything other than the Disney version of Mary Poppins, and now I have a Spoon Full of Sugar stuck in my head! Beautiful cats.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Christine! (And now that song's in my head, too!)
DeleteGood luck to your older daughter!
ReplyDeletePeople found out my grandma would take in strays and they started dumping kittens and momma cats in her drive way. She had a "farm" and took care of them all. Spaying and neutering about bankrupted her though. You're very kind to give them homes.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to your daughter!
Congrats, Stephanie!
ReplyDeleteHow cute that you take in all those cats! And I'm crossing my fingers for your daughter.
Sounds like the word's getting out around the neighbourhood cats! Nice of you to build houses for them. Good luck to your daughter and congrats to Stephanie!
ReplyDeleteTamara, I'd like to have outdoor pets but they would need a place to escape the cold and severe elements. Right now, we don't have such a place. Perhaps in the future we can do this. Y'all have the right idea it seems. :) So, glad you don't have to travel for Thanksgiving. It's gonna be nuts I guess. We saw our families a few days ago and won't be traveling, either. I prefer it that way. I hate being on congested roads! Thanks for the visit and have a wonderful week. May you and yours have a blessed Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteLOL to cat-HAirbnb!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to your daughter.
And congrats to Stephanie!
Good luck to your daughter. My daughter would adopt any stray cat that came around. Congrats to Stephanie.
ReplyDeleteUnless I am mistaken, Mary Poppins is famed for the mis-casting of Dick Van Dyke, who produced the worst English accent ever. You don't know what you have missed 👵
ReplyDeleteI love Mary Poppins- but I haven't seen it in a while. The songs are catchy. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat to see Stephanie and Piper here. Wishing Stephanie all the best!
