Celebrate the Small Things

Happy Friday (oops) Saturday y'all! Up here in the wilds of the north, schools are out this week for this crazy thing called Winter Break. Why would anyone want to be out of school in February instead of extending summer break during the best weather of the year is beyond me. Anyway, let's all thank our extraordinary host, Lexa Cain and her co-hosts: L.G. Keltner and Tonya Drecker.

1. We took a mini-vacation up to Canada to enjoy a night a Great Wolf Lodge. The roller coaster water slide was a fave.

2. The next day we went to see the always magnificent Niagara Falls. The color of the water at the edge is so gorgeous (pun intended) that I could stare at it for hours (if my kids would let me, which they wouldn't. It was raining.)

3. At the end of our walk along the Canadian and American falls, we wandered into the tourist-y area and had an early dinner with elephants trumpeting into our ears every fifteen minutes at the Rainforest Cafe.

Have you done any traveling lately? Any place you like to visit?

  1. Doesn't matter what day you celebrate.
That sounds like a fun trip. It's been years since I visited Niagara Falls.

  2. Happy Saturday! I hope your day is going well.
Our son is working in Poland for a few weeks, and we are planning a trip to visit him there. His home is in Australia meaning he is much closer to us than normal at the moment, and it’s an opportunity not to be missed.
Thank you for commenting on my recent post, I’ve left a reply for you and would be interested in your thoughts. Barbara

  3. We visited Niagara Falls a few years ago. Beautiful place. My kids used to love the indoor water parks, I'm kinda glad they've grown out of those. I hate running around in my bathing suit.

    1. I know what you mean. I'm not too fond of the tattoo exposition either.

  4. What awesome things you visited! Thanks for sharing the pics with us. When you mention elephants in a cafe I thought "Jumanji!" lol Have a great weekend!

  5. Those all look like so much fun! I had to smile at the winter break comment. The schools here don't have one. Instead, they have a 4 day weekend every month (two if there's a holiday), which I'm not terribly excited about either, since it makes getting a part-time job hard (which I'd really like to do). I love the elephant cafe picture especially!

  7. I went to Niagara many years ago, but the memories are still very strong. It's an amazing place. Glad you enjoyed your break.

  8. I have always wanted to see Niagara Falls. I have heard how beautiful the area is. I am sure one day I will get there- as NY is very close to CT. :) We don't have February vacation where I live- but the kids get a 4 day weekend instead. We still don't get out very early though, because there are usually a lot of snow days.

  9. We bought a Pleasure Way RV Van and made a trip to Florida. It was fun, but it was no warmer than it was at home! When we planned our trip, it was cold here. We went to Canada last year, but I've never been to Niagara Falls. I need to add it to my bucket list. It looks like you had a great trip!

  10. Looks like you had some fun! We don't have a winter break. Our spring break is in April, and we'll be going to Hilton Head.

  12. I haven't been anywhere since we went to East TN at Thanksgiving to visit family. I'll be doing four book events in Kentucky in March if that counts!

I will do everything in my power to visit commenter's blogs unless I've been abducted by aliens or my children get sick. (If my children get abducted by aliens, I will be very busy, of course, catching up on my sleep.)
